Color of the moment: Pistachio
In the fashion scene, pistachio is the color of the fall season. I wanted to talk about how the color is used now and how it was used a long time ago.
I am seriously obsessed with the book The Secret Lives of Color which gives you the history of different colors throughout time. I wanted to give some of the major facts the book talks about for the color Celadon (a.k.a. Basically a slightly darker version of pistachio), but also talk about how the color is being used today!
// Celadon was first named because it was the color of the cover of a play about a man named Celadon, a shepherd.
// This color is also known for its use in Chinese ceramics named celadon. These have been seen around the world starting in 918, but originating in China.
// The color was referred to as “mi se” which means “mysterious color” for a period of time because people had rarely seen this color which made it hard for them to describe it.
// Pistachio has been seen all over this seasons SS20 shows. I’ve seen it on so many runways and in all of the fast fashion stores.
// Pistachio is currently known for the nut it describes, but little does everyone know, pistachios used to be dyed red when imported into the US!
// This color of green is also used to invoke a sense of calmness and a lot of higher-end brands love to use this color! Case and point, Lauderee.
