Why Your Phone Case May Be Your Most Important Accessory
Why your phone case may be your most important accessory

I know this post title sounds kind of ridiculous, but it’s something I’ve been thinking about lately.

Not necessarily about your phone case (we will get to that later in this post) but how much your phone affects your life

I mean, your phone is probably the one thing you’re physically attached to 24/7 (which is actually kinda scary to think about). Especially if you are running a small business, instagram page, or have a full time job… You are constantly checking/responding to notifications.

But how much do we really pay attention to how taking care of our phone as much as we care for our homes can actually improve your life.

Okay Let’s start with the inside - everyone says beauty comes from the inside, right? Same thing for your phone. - Like you know how when you are trying to get ready and throw ALL of your clothes on the floor because you have NOTHING to wear? Then later you realize you should probably clean that up because its genuinely better having a clean room, so you can think better? Do your work without the impending task of cleaning your room when you get home?

Lately that’s how I’ve been feeling about my phone. It’s sooo unorganized and theres just so much happening on there that I don’t even want to open it anymore.

I.E. 200 emails in my inbox, 8,000 pictures in your camera roll (with no organizational folders, c’mon Apple!!!), apps you don’t use, etc.

But, what if we organized our phones just like our rooms? So when we lock our phones we have peach of mind because we know where everything is.

We know that we’ve answered all our emails and we know where to look when we need to attached a document in an email or find a picture to post on instagram.

Why your phone case may be your most important accessory

 1. UNSUBSCRIBE from all those news letters you don’t read, or you think you will one day maybe read. The stores who send you 1,000 emails, but you never look at them, just delete them. I’m not saying delete it all, but delete the one’s that don’t provide you value once during the span of a week. This way you can see which emails you need to respond to without the clutter.

 2. Delete your apps. Basically Marie Condo that sh*t. And if you don’t get that reference, you should read this and delete anything you haven’t used this year or anything that doesn’t bring you joy. Now you’re on your way to saving time and not having to sift through 20 apps to find the one you’re looking for. If you’re psycho like me you can make folders for each category and put your most used apps on your first page.

 3. Do the same to your camera roll. I have probably 1000 screenshots I don’t need,100 accidental screen shots of my lock screen, and 30 pictures on the same thing, but thought “maybe I’ll need it” on my camera roll. When you’re bored and doing nothing start from the top and DELETE. You literally won’t miss it, I promise. Now you can see the clear fun memories and pictures for your business and not 100 of the same pictures (maybe just 5).

 4. I kinda take my camera roll to another level which if you run a small business you probably understand. So, I made an album for blog post/instagram pictures, so I can stop scrolling for forever to fins what I’m looking for. There’s just one album now that I keep all edited & ready to go photos.

 5. Use the gmail/outlook app NOT apple mail. Well one, it literally doesn’t notify you. Two, if theres a really persistent subscription that just won’t let you unsubscribe gmail filters it out for you. And you can make certain e-mails filter into other folders or categories. Organization <3

Why your phone case may be your most important accessory

So now, you can take a deep sigh of relief because your phone is pretty well organized, easy to navigate, and stress free.

The fun part is picking out a case! And it doesn’t have to be anything expensive, just something you look at and it makes you happy. For me, I have this palm case I got on amazon for $6.85 and it protects the crap out of my phone. I’ve dropped it 100 times (like glass down on cement floors) and nothing has cracked. (I also recommend a glass screen protector).

Every time I see my case, it makes me smile a little cause it reminds me of my trip to Miami with MKM. So, pick a case that means something to you like a quote a picture an image DO YOU!

Tag me on insta or stories if you try my tips or get a cute new case :) would love to talk everyone.

Spring Date Night Outfit
Spring Date Night Outfit

Hey, hi, hello!

Hope y'all are having a great week so far! I'm definitely feeling ready for spring weather, so I can start wearing sandals and tank tops again, how about you?

But anyway...

I wanted to share today was a date night outfit. Something thats easy to put together and that you probably have in your closet, but still classy and feels fresh!

I took a FP top (from MARSHALS!!, similar here) and paired it with my Madewell High rise jeans with a crop flare. Still love that style. You can either wear slides or sandals here in neutral shade to match the black / blue of the rest of the outfit. What I love to do here is to add a little tuck to the shirt. I think this really elevates a look and gives it a sense of sophistication. Not to mention, it gives you a waist again, which is perfect for a date night.

This would obviously be for a casual date night in the city where you and the BF can get some margs. Or a girls night if you're a single lady ;)

Tag me on insta/stories if you have a date night this week would love to see what you choose to wear! There are a million pics of my outfit below!!

How To Make The Airport Less Stressful
What's in my airport bag

Is it me or does the airport just seem like the worst. Don't get me wrong, I love to travel, but the airport has just always been a source of chaos for me. So, for my trip to Mexico I was determined to make the airport/airplane feel like home. In today's post I want to share some things I put in my carry-on purse that made me feel comfortable while in at the 6AM *yawn*

First, I'm really into mint tea and lemon water, I feel like it calms me and makes me feel at home, so I drank both of these in the airport and on the plane! It also helps with stomach aches which I seem to get a lot while flying.

Next, I love bringing lavender scented anything. This includes sanitation wipes for the airplane seat, hand sanitizer, and face mist. Lavender is a very calming scent and makes any situation a little less stressful, plus how cute are these little towelettes :) AND after you wipe down your seat, you're enveloped in a scent of lavender.

Then I always have my ticket/reservation printed and my liquids all in one place. These two might seem random, but it's just 2 more things I don't have to think about going wrong.

Finally, my Bose noise cancelling headphones....they are potentially the greatest thing you can bring on a plane. Baby screaming? Who cares. Loud jet noises? Can't hear 'em. It's pretty awesome to just put these on and read your book and the next thing you know you're at your next destination.

I made some nice friends on my second flight though, shoutout to them for making 4 hours feel like 1!

Linking everything else below!

What's in my airport bag

If you want to see what else I pack in my carry on purse you can check out this post. I put all small items in this small polcadot zip bag and the rest can easily fit in my tote bag :)

How To Pack For Spring Break

Its almost officially spring, which calls for sun and sand! Even though I don't have an official spring break anymore, I'm pretending like I do and going with my family to Mexico for the duration of my little sis's college spring break.

I definitely have packing light down to a science, so I want to share my tips and trick with you all! I hate paying those extra baggage fees only to end up realizing I wore half the clothes I packed (I'm sure you do too). I'm also including a free printable packing list, so you don't forget anything for your special trip! See below :)

How To Pack For Spring Break

Tip #1 - Travel Sizes

For all of your toiletries pack travel sizes. When you leave the country your liquids should be able to fit into a quart size bag, so this is essential, if you want to get on the plane. But, it also saves you so much space because you aren't wasting it with 5oz of shampoo you won't use. Pro Tip: Make sure all your carry-on liquids are in one bag, so if they need you to take them out of your suitcase, it doesn't hold up the entire security line.

Tip #2 - Pair Down Your Makeup

Go through your makeup bag. One, because theres definitely liquids in there that need to be put in your liquids bag. Second, because I bet you 50% of what is in that bag you won't use on vacation. Mostly because you're gonna sweat it off anyway, so why give up the extra clothing room. I usually take travel size primer, foundation, concealer, face palette (this one has everything you'll need), mascara, eyeliner, and travel size setting spray. It will be all you need, your bronzer and highlighter double as eyeshadow so no need to bring that huge eyeshadow palette that you use 2 colors out of.

Tip #3 - Don't Think "What If"

Don't listen to your "but what if.." voice. Sounds simple right? Not when you are going through your closet thinking of every possible scenario you could stumble upon on your spring break. This is where people fall into the trap of over packing. They think up a scenario in there head where that dress would look so perfect, and what if I don't pack it, I'll be so mad at myself!!! But, really if you are having the best time of your life will you be thinking about the dress you didn't pack? This leads me to my next tip...

Tip #4 - Pick Versatile Pieces

Bring clothes that can be mixed and matched together. I'm not saying you entire suitcase has to look like this, but if you follow the packing list and have 2 shorts, 1 pant, 3 tops that's 9 outfits. Then you can add in a couple more unique pieces you'll only wear once and you don't feel like you're missing out on bringing what you want to wear!

Tip #5 - Follow My Packing List

Don't bring more than what I have on this list. I'm going on vacation for 7 days and this is what I'm bringing. I have pieces for the beach and dinner out. If you think you need more you probably don't and won't even remember you thought of bringing it anyway. When it doubt don't bring it!

Nightstand Essential Products

I'll be honest, my bed is my favorite place. I'm the living embodiment of the memes you see on Instagram ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So, this had led me to put together the most amazing bed side products.

These are all of the products I keep in arm's length of me while I'm in bed! See below for a list of all of the products and why I love them so much!!

Nightstand Products:

 1. Lavender Candle: The classic bed-side candle is my favorite. It really sets a relaxing tone after you've showered and can finally wind down from the day. I love the lavender scent (you'll see that's a theme) and got it from Marshalls for $2.99!! Steal it smells amazing.

 2. Book: In my photo I have the 5-Minute Journal which is a pretty good thing for your bedside, but tbh I don't really use it and usually have a book there instead. Any recommendations for good books?! I love reading right before going to sleep to clear my mind and put me in sleep mode.

 3. Micellar Water & Face Cottons: Ahhh. I keep these two products here for when I am extra lazy and don't want to take my makeup off before I go to sleep. I know it's bad, but I would rather do this than nothing at all. Also, the Shiseido facial cottons are amazing and I am obsessed with them!

 4. Lavender Face Mist: I am just obsessed with how this smells and how calm it makes me. And living in NYC that's really all I can ask for.

 5. Hand Moisturizer & Cuticle Oil: Who doesn't love to have soft hands. I love putting this on right before bed because I know it will have time to sink in over night!

 6. Small Dish: Gotta have somewhere to keep all of my nick-nacks, rings, and hair clips! Otherwise, my table would get pretty messy!

 7. Hair Clips: I hate when their hair is in their face, so I keep these little clips here incase I need to pull my hair back, but don't want to have a tight hair tie!

 8. Hand Sanitizer: Again, New York is actually disgusting and sometimes I just want to make sure my hands are definitely clean before I go to bed. This actually goes with me everywhere, but I also put it next to my bed every night.

 9. Water: Gotta always hydrate!

 10. Mint Tea: I. Love. This. It is such a great combination with the candle when you want to just chill for a sec and relax. It aids in digestion too, so I love drinking this a couple hours before bed. The Trader Joe's one is my fave.

Eating my way through NYC: The Clocktower at the Edition

My favorite activity in NYC is I will be chronicling the many restaurants/spots I try out and sharing them with you all! Come along for the ride :)

Let me start this off by saying Gigi Hadid was there 2 days before me, I so close to accidentally running into her. The Clocktower at the New York City Edition is where Mike and I decided to do Valentine's day dinner! The restaurant is located inside of the Edition Hotel, so when you go inside you are on the first floor of the Edition, which is just the coziest place ever (great place for a drink to catch up with a friend).

To get to the restaurant, you have to go to the second floor. I recommend making a reservation on Open Table and showing up around 15 minutes area. This way you can have a drink at the bar and watch the mesmerizing bartender do his thing! There is also so much history at the restaurant as every wall is full of framed pictures of visitors, it is really a cool sight.

Eating my way through NYC: The Clock Tower

Now on the the good does my burger look?! And it tasted as good as it looked! We also decided to start with appetizers (shown below) of west coast oysters and steak tar tar. I have to say I didn't care much for the steak tar tar, but the oysters were some of the best I've ever had! Mike ordered the Roasted Montauk sea bass which I tried and it was delicious! All and all this was such an amazing atmosphere and great food, perfect for a date night or a way to mark an anniversary.

But, to be honest the meals are pretty expensive (heres is the menu), so this is not a casual dining place for a weekday.

Hope you found my review helpful in planning where you want to eat while in New York, if you have any addition questions you can leave them in the comments below and I will answer!

Would love to know if you visit the restaurant <3

DIY: Embroidered Farmer's Market Tote

Hello lovelies!

I am so excited to share with you this tote bag idea! I am obsessed with how this came out and it is SO easy to do. You can find all of the supplies on amazon and its less than $20. I also created a free download for the flower pattern and cactus pattern to make it super easy.

Whether you are bored or want a fun new DIY project this one is sure to please!

Embroidered Farmer's Market Tote 1

I think this is the cutest bag for the farmers market on Sundays or when you are going to the grocery store. It's always better to have a reusable and sturdy bag, especially here in NYC. The hand embroidery is just that extra little touch. See below for instructions!

Tote Directions:

 1. Print pattern and cut around the one you like the most!

 2. Using an HB pencil trace the back of the pattern and make sure your lines are super thick. This is important for the next step.

 3. Flip over the pattern, so the black inked side is facing up. Place the pattern in the center of the bag and use the same pencil and color over the top of the paper (see picture above). This will transfer the pencil sketch you made in step to onto the fabric

 4. Then using your embroidery floss, start sewing! I used a regular satin stitch for most of the bag, it's super easy. Here is a helpful video if you are new to embroidery.

 5. Now you are finished and ready to use your bag for any occasion you like!

This Productivity Hack Will Change Your Life (in a good way)

Hello! I know today's Valentine's day, but really isn't it just another day? (yes)

So, I thought today as you go to work/school, I would try to brighten your day with a way to make the long 8 hours feel more productive and worthwhile. How you might ask, with a to-do list!

Since 6th grade when my dad taught me how to be able to finish all my homework by using a to-do list with little check boxes next to it, I haven't stopped. No I'm serious, I make one almost every day since then. In college I just it to prioritize school work and studying and now I use to to manage all the projects I have at work. I haven't found a better way to organize everything I need to get done on a given day. Plus, what is better than checking that little box and crossing that task off of your to-do list?

But, I have learned a few tricks along the way to make your list-making make you feel more productive, which I will share with all of you! And I've included a free printable below, so you can print these cute to-do lists right at the office! So easy and cute.

productivity hack image 1

Tip #1: Sectioning

On a separate sheet of paper write down everything you need to accomplish that day, like everything. Then weed out the tasks that are the smaller and more administrative like answering emails, writing tweets, writing captions, ect. You want to clump these together and try to complete them all at one time. Choose a time like right when you get in or right after lunch, where you don't need to use all of your brain power to complete them. Then I like to section out my large/medium tasks by either projects or who it's due to.

Tip #2: Prioritization

Now, I know people say to choose 3 things per day to focus on, but who can do that. I know personally, I always have 1 million tasks on my to-do list and constantly have people messaging me to ask me a question about something else. So, within each section, I like to prioritize what needs to be finished that day and what I can push to the next. I usually denote this on my task list by putting it first in its section and adding a little star next to the task.

Then I get to work! I like to do smaller tasks, then 1 big task, then smaller tasks, then a couple medium sized ones. So then my day is broken up and I don't feel like I haven't finished anything I set out to do that day, but instead I've just been constantly putting checks in the little boxes. The best feeling!

Entertaining Idea: Galentine's Day, Taco Night

I thought this taco recipe for you Galentine's day party would be a good change of pace from every other blog out there doing gift guides for him, DIY crafts, etc. I feel like real people don't actually get use out of them and I wanted to create something useful for not just Valentine's day, but also a a week from now when you don't know what to cook!! That is the point of Sarah Gross Design, helping other people learn from what I already know.

And also who doesn't love a good taco recipe especially eating them with your best friends! I was inspired by Half Baked Harvest's 20 minute Caribbean shrimp taco recipe. I love all of her posts, but to be honest I can never gather all of the right ingredients, so this is my simpler take that I know every single one of you can do!

You can download this grocery list and recipe card, so there is no thought needed! Read below for instructions.

The final product <3 amazing tacos

The final product <3 amazing tacos

the fresh salsa ingredients

the fresh salsa ingredients

Spicy Sour Creme

 • 1/4 cup sour creme

 • 1/2 juice lime

 • 1 tsp-2tsp chili lime salt (trader joe's)

 • 1 pound shrimp (frozen or fresh)

 • olive oil

 • 1 tbsp chili lime salt

 • salt and pepper to taste

1 bag corn tortillas / 1 avocado

Fresh Salsa

 • 2 medium size tomatoes

 • 1/8 white onion

 • 1/4 jalapeno

 • 1 juice of a lime

 • 1 handful of cilantro

 • Pinch of salt and pepper

Mango Salsa

 • 1 mango

 • 1 handful cilantro

 • 1/2 juice lime

Prep your toppings

 1. Fresh salsa: Dice tomatoes, onion and jalapeno and toss into your bowl. Then roughly chop your cilantro and add to your bowl. Squeeze the juice of your lime and add salt and pepper. Mix everything together and let sit in the fridge, having it sit there for 30mins-1 hour will help the flavors mix together.

 2. Mango salsa: chop mango and cilantro and add to a bowl. Then squeeze your lime and add to the mango and cilantro mix. Leave in the fridge.

 3. Spicy sour creme: mix together sour creme, lime juice, and chili lime salt.

Cook Shrimp

 1. Heat up your pan with a teaspoon of olive oil in it. Toss your shrimp in chili lime salt, and pepper. Add 1/2 your shrimp to the hot pan and cook each side until the shrimp is pink and cooked through. Put on a plate with a paper towel on it and cook the other half of your shrimp.

Make Tacos

 1. If you have a gas stove, turn on a burner onto medium-high heat and place your corn tortillas directly onto the burner. Flip tortillas until the outside is a little crispy and the entire tortillas is warm. Make around 4-6 of these and keep in a kitchen towel, so they stay warm. (Modification: for electric stoves, place tortillas in a dry hot pan and cook until edges are crispy and the tortilla is warm)

 2. Put spicy sour creme, fresh salsa, mango salsa, avocado, and shrimp on your taco. Sprinkle some cilantro and a squeeze of lime to garnish and you are all set!

Hope you enjoy! Head over to my instagram to see live how I made the fresh salsa!

How To Beat Your Cold 101

Flying this weekend for my company's summit week got me a little afraid of getting a cold. Just winter by itself in New York is cold enough to give you a cold walking outside, but adding a flight on top of that was sure to give me a cold. So, to be proactive about my health, I pulled out all of my tricks and tips to kick your cold in the butt! Read below to hear how I have kept my cold at bay even with high altitude and not much sleep.

Tip #1

So cliche of me, I know. But it's true!! That's why its a cliche. My tactic is to literally drown your cold in warm or cold water. If you have a sore throat, try putting honey in hot water :)

Tip #2

Vitamin C

These little packets of vitamin C are perfect! You can keep them in your work bag and pull one out anytime you feel a little under the weather. All you do is mix it with water and drink the whole thing.

Tip #3

Pressed Juice Shots

These shots are my favorite secret. If you live in New York you probably see Pressed Juicery all the time. While I'm not sure the drinks are worth $6.50, their shots are the best discovery. For $2.50 you can get any of these shots. I chose "Vitality" and "Wellness" shots that really pack a punch. Vitality is a mix of turmeric (to decrease inflammation), lemon (always good cleansing and vitamin C), coconut water (hydration!!! I wasn't kidding), and black pepper. In the Wellness shot there is ginger, lemon, and cayenne. I will say this one is definitely painful to drink and I recommend trying to do it in one gulp. All together, they will reboot your system and shock it enough to keep you cold away. I seriously swear by these shots and they actually work which is rare.

Tip #4

These little guys are awesome! They also should be used when you feel like you might be getting sick.
